Maytg Epic Z Series F-20 Error Code Fix
The Maytag Epic series is a wonderful washer and dryer. If you are an owner of the Maytag Z Series you know that it's a reliable and well built machine. Naturally even with the best of the best, there are some times where an error code shows up and you need to be prepared to handle them. We've found that the Maytag manual does not do some of the error codes justice and are trying to compile a more hands on, and step by step process for you to be able to deal with the error codes on your own, without the costly call to a service center or repairman.
F20 or F-20 is an error code that indicates a water pressure concern. Not enough water is getting to the machine in the proper time frame. There are a number of reasons this may happen and some of them can be extremely easy and quick to fix.
One of the easiest solutions is to check both the hot and cold water shut-off valves and confirm that they are open as far as they will go. Perhaps the last time someone check the hoses, or moved the washing machine the handled was left off or only partially opened and the F20 error code will appear. Make sure to check both the hot and cold water faucets.
The second option is that you may have a defective hose. If the host has become kinked or in some other fashion damaged it may be stopping or slowing water to your Maytag Epic Z. Check the entire length of hose and make sure it is not damaged or twisted in any way.
If you are in a home with a well, there are natural concerns with the Maytag washing machine. Wehn ours showed the F20 error, there was not enough pressure at the well holding tank. The holding tank had slowly become deflated and once reinflated it provided the proper pressure to the house again. Naturally this even made the morning shower much better as it increased the water pressure to the whole house.
If you are on city water, checking the water main connection into the house would be important. It could have been bumped or caused to not be open completely and also not giving enough water pressure.
In general if you check any of the sources of water coming into the washing machine, you should be able to solve the F20 code on your own. DOn't forget the other things that might be easily forgotten - emergency water shut offs, water filters valves and more. There are all potential areas where the water input can be restricted into the washer.
Good Luck!
